2006 North American Boarding Schools Fair

A growing number of Hong Kong students and parents are eager to take advantage of the wide variety of excellent academic programs available offered by private high schools and boarding schools in the United States and Canada. IIE¡¦s North American Boarding School Fair provides you with an efficient, cost-effective way to reach them.
The fair, organized in cooperation with The Association of Boarding Schools and sponsored by the Secondary School Admission Test Board, allows boarding school representatives to meet with hundreds of prospective students and parents interested in secondary education in North America. It also gives students and parents the opportunity to learn about educational opportunities directly from official, reliable sources. A series of seminars, including a general information session, a parent-hosted open discussion forum and student visa briefing by the U.S. Consulate-General, is also organized for prospective students and parents. Admission is free and open to the public.
IIE has been organizing educational fairs throughout Asia for nearly 20 years and now invites you to participate in the North American Boarding School Fair on November 5, 2006 (Sunday). Don¡¦t miss this opportunity to establish a productive, long-term presence in Hong Kong.

| Participation Guidelines |
Participation is open to all private high schools and boarding schools in the United States and Canada accredited by any of the six U.S. accrediting associations or their Canadian counterparts. Schools must be represented by staff sent from the North American schools. As IIE promotes direct school-to-student communication, no third-party recruiters may participate. Parents and alumni are welcome to represent a school so long as school personnel are also present.
Note: Expanding banner stands are prohibited from being displayed immediately next to the school's table as they may block tables behind them. There will be a designated area where these stands may be displayed.

| Facilities |
The fair will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Conrad Hotel, which is centrally located and easily accessible by all major transportation. Each participating school will be provided a 3-by-5-foot table and two chairs, without a backdrop, as well access to electrical outlets (220V). Internet access will be available at additional cost.

| Publicity |
IIE is developing a comprehensive publicity campaign to promote the 2006 Fair. The strategic placement of press release and advertisements in local newspapers and magazines will be supplemented by the distribution of posters and flyers to local and international secondary schools. The fair will also be publicized online through IIE's website and mailing list.

Country Briefing
On the day of the fair, there will be a briefing to provide school representatives with comprehensive information on the local education system in Hong Kong and trends in the flow of students to the North America.

Schools profiles
A fair guide will be distributed free to all students attending the fair and throughout the year at IIE advising centers. In addition to a general introduction to the admissions process at North American independent schools, the guide will also include details about participating schools, such as application requirements, language programs, fees, and contact information. Only institutions who register and return their school profiles by the September 30 deadline will be included in the guide.

IIE cannot take responsibility for materials lost in transit, so to ensure safe arrival of your materials, we recommend using FedEx, DHL, UPS or a similar courier service.

| Visa & Travel Information |
U.S. passport holders are allowed to stay in Hong for up to 90 days without having to obtain a visa. For more information, please consult the Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department's website.
From Hong Kong International Airport, one way to get to the Conrad is by the hotel shuttle bus. Visit the hotel counter in the arrivals hall once you exit customs.
For those not staying in the Conrad or at hotels without shuttle service, we recommend the Airport Express (HK$180/US$23 for a round trip ticket), then by taxi from Hong Kong Station to the city center (about HK$30-50/US$3.80 -US$6.40). Travelling directly to the city center from the airport by taxi is expensive, about HK$250-300 (US$32-38.40) per one-way trip.

| Hotels |
Hong Kong has an abundance of hotels, but most are considered expensive by U.S. standards. Often, travel agents in the U.S. have better access to discount rates than can be obtained locally, especially during the fall which is the peak travel season in Hong Kong.
