What is the SSAT?
The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is an examination required for applicants to many U.S. private secondary day and boarding schools.

Test Format
The SSAT is a pencil-and-paper test, with essay and multiple choice sections.

Test Content
The SSAT consists of two parts: a brief essay, and a multiple-choice aptitude test which measures your ability to solve mathematics problems, to use language, and to comprehend what you read. The test is administered on two levels: Lower (for students currently in grades 5-7) and Upper (for students currently in grades 8-11).

Late Registration (online only)
Late registration closes two weeks before each nationally scheduled test date. Late registrations may be submitted online only, with payment by credit card only. Late registrations will be charged a US$30 Late fee.

Standby Registration (online only)

After Late Registration closes, you may register online for any standby test space that may become available up until the Saturday morning of the test. However, standby space is very limited and testing is not guaranteed.

To register for standby test space, visit the SSAT web site at www.ssat.org. Select from the list of participating test sites and then complete the registration (including full payment by credit card). When you submit your registration, you will be issued a standby ticket. You must print and bring this ticket to the test site or you will not be admitted. Note: A standby ticket does not guarantee testing. Your standby ticket includes an assigned queue number for your selected test site. This queue number sets the order in which any seats that are available at the test site will be allocated.

Standby registrants will be admitted to the test based on the sole discretion of the Test Center Supervisor after all non-standby registrants have been accommodated. If seats and test books are still available, standby registrants will then be admitted based on their assigned queue number. Standby registrants should arrive at the test center early. (Complete information can be found at www.ssat.org.)
Standby Registration Fees: US$275
