The TOEFL Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT)
TOEFL iBT is offered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of the United States. The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) is appointed by the ETS to hold TOEFL iBT in Hong Kong.
The TOEFL iBT is delivered via the internet. It emphasizes integrated skills and helps confirm you are ready to communicate your ideas about what you will read and listen to in your academic courses.The test is approximately four and one-half hours long and has four sections:
- Reading - measures the ability to understand academic reading materials.
- Listening - measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities.
- Speaking - measures the ability to speak English in an academic context.
- Writing - measures the ability to write in a way that is appropriate for college and university course work.
Test Dates and Registration Deadlines
Test dates are in the Learners and Test Takers section of the TOEFL Website. The regular registration deadline is seven days prior to the test date (not including the day of the test). The late registration deadline is three days prior to the test date (not including the day of the test). If you are registering by mail, your registration form must be received at least four weeks before your earliest test date choice. Test start time will be indicated on the registration confirmation.

Online Registration using a credit card
The easiest way to register is via online registration in the Learners and Test Takers section of the TOEFL Website. Test dates and a list of test sites can be found at the TOEFL Web site which is being updated as frequently as necessary, and so be sure to check the TOEFL iBT online registration system for the most up-to-date information. New users registering online will be required to establish an online profile with user names and passwords. Please return your online profile and print out your registration confirmation right before the test day.

After registration, you will be given a registration number. Be sure to write it down and bring this number to the test center on the test day. You will also be given a test date, reporting time and test center address. Please refer the Registration Form in the TOEFL iBT Bulletin for the information you will be asked for when you call.
Mail-In Registration
You can register by mail by completing the Registration Form in the TOEFL iBT Bulletin (the form is also downloadable from the TOEFL Website) and mailing it to Prometric RRC. You are required to fill in all the information on the Form and include credit card information. The registration form must be received at least four weeks before the earliest test date choice.
