TOEIC: Test of English for International Communication is a trademark of the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Organizations

Small businesses, multinationals and government agencies alike use test scores as a management tool to make personnel decisions that include:
¡D Recruiting and promoting
¡D Job training
¡D Overseas assignments
¡D On-site language training
¡D To demonstrate learning progress in corporate training

Test scores show if an employee has the necessary English language skills to:
¡D Carry out specific job responsibilities
¡D Participate in (and benefit from) training that is conducted in English
¡D Work and interact successfully with native-English speaking clients or branch offices
¡D Work and interact successfully if posted in an English-speaking country
¡D Advance within the organization-or if further English language training is needed

The scores are useful for Human Resources managers, training managers, and recruiters. By reviewing the Can-Do Guide provided by ETS, you can gain a sense of how scores might fit with particular job roles in your company. For example, a customer relationship manager might need a score of 900 to perform well in that role. Using TOEIC scores to benchmark English proficiency can help you spot and hire the right person, for the long term.

A general guideline is listed below. With the assistance of a TOEIC test representative, scores can be customized and linked to specific job tasks and proficiency levels within each organization. The test is a practical and more reliable alternative to oral interviews.

Corporations are welcome to arrange on-site testing for their employees for groups of 20 or more. Testing service is provided on demand. Simply contact IIE to make arrangements. Tests are scored by IIE and results are ready within 2-3 business days. TOEIC scores from tests administered on-site are intended for internal use only.
